We will help guide you through the surrogacy process while minimizing costs, time, uncertainty and risk.
We are the nation’s only physician-managed surrogacy agency based in California. At Physician’s Surrogacy, our physician-managed staff of service-oriented professionals, provide you with distinct advantages over traditional agency model.
We offer a complimentary consultation and Surrogate profile review, saving you both time and money. Other agencies will require you sign an agency agreement and charge between $20,000- $40,000 to begin the surrogacy review process. With us, you will not sign agreements or pay any fees until you find your ideal match.
Having the largest surrogacy program in the nation, there is no wait time to find your perfect Surrogate. Unlike other agencies where you have to wait, on average, 6-12 months to find a Surrogate, our timeline is on average one week from consultation to confirmed match.
Before you start the surrogacy selection process, each Surrogate candidate goes through our stringent physician-designed, comprehensive pre-screening process to ensure she is physically ready and committed to the journey.
At Physician’s Surrogacy, our specialty is obstetrics, which allows us to establish the highest surrogacy standards in the industry, providing our Intended Parents with peace of mind. Intended Parents can rest assured of medical confidence.
Our multilingual staff ensures that our clients can communicate comfortably in their native language, leading to improved understanding and satisfaction.
As an OB-managed agency, only Physician’s Surrogacy provides you with the option to elect for additional Antenatal testing. This allows Intended Parents to remain in control of the decision-making and provides reassurance of the healthy progress of your baby.
Our surrogacy programs offer Intended Parents transparency and certainty regarding the costs of surrogacy and financial planning. Say goodbye to line-item benefits packages, additional fees, and hidden costs with our Flat Rate and Surrogacy Live Birth Guarantee Program.
You’ll receive detailed updates from Physician’s Surrogacy rather than the Surrogate, after every appointment. The support team works with Surrogates one-on-one while our in-house doctors and case managers closely monitor the journey.
We understand the time, resources, and effort it took to create your embryos. Selecting your IVF center, choosing the right Reproductive Endocrinologist, the egg retrieval process, and finally the anticipation of receiving your PGT results.
During your initial consultation, our goal is for you to understand our process, get to know us, and be confident that your Surrogacy journey will be as smooth as possible.
We will go over all your preferences, goals, and requirements that are vital in creating your unique path to parenthood. We want to learn more about the physician you are currently working with, so we can find a Surrogate Mother that will fit both you and your IVF center’s preferences.
Our consultative approach takes into consideration that every journey is unique, and one pre-defined option doesn’t suit everyone’s needs.
Immediately following your consultation, you will receive a quotation based on the scenarios discussed. Your quote outlines all variables, including financial considerations (Surrogate experience, employment status, and location), additional testing preferences, and logistics.
During the Surrogate matching process, our team aligns your goals, preferences, and center requirements to create your ideal match. You are presented with Surrogates who have passed our rigorous social and medical pre-screening processes, which include a comprehensive background check, internal OB review of prior pregnancy, delivery records, and preliminary diagnostic screenings.
We further confirm the candidate meets the gestational carrier criteria of your IVF center and Reproductive Endocrinologist.
To start the complimentary matching process, we will collect the necessary identification followed by hand-selecting your matches based on your pathway to parenthood plan. Picture profiles of your potential Surrogates are then sent to you.
Once you’ve selected the profiles that you’re interested in learning more about, we will share their public profile with you. If there are any FDA or medical considerations that a potential Surrogate needs to be made aware of, one of our physicians are available to discuss this with them before moving forward. The final step is to schedule a meet-and-greet video chat with your potential Surrogate, allowing you to move forward with confidence.
After confirmation of a match by both you and your Surrogate, our agency agreement is signed. We do not ask you to sign a contract until a two-way match is confirmed. Your Surrogate then goes through a comprehensive medical screening at your IVF center.
A psychological screening is conducted, ensuring that your Surrogate is medically and emotionally prepared to prioritize a surrogacy journey.
Once your Surrogate completes the screening, a medical clearance letter is issued, allowing you to proceed to the legal contract phase. Both you and your Surrogate will have your own legal representation. The legal contract phase takes approximately 2— 4 weeks; however, your legal representation stands by to support you and your Surrogate throughout the journey.
Physician’s Surrogacy acts as a liaison between your Reproductive Endocrinologist, your Surrogate, and your IVF coordinator, providing additional resources and support until graduation.
We help with the coordination of logistics and monitoring, including making sure that your Surrogate Mother maintains timely contact with the IVF center and attends all necessary appointments.
Collaborating with your IVF center guarantees that we are working together as a team, providing you with the best possible outcome.
You’ll receive updates directly from Physician’s Surrogacy, rather than the Surrogate, after every appointment. This ensures that you’re receiving timely and accurate information regarding your baby. As an OB-managed agency, Physician’s Surrogacy provides you with the option of electing for additional antenatal testing to be done providing reassurance of the healthy progress of your baby.
Antenatal testing is used to evaluate your baby’s well-being throughout your surrogate’s pregnancy. For many of our Intended Parents, antenatal testing provides reassurance that their baby will be healthy and reduces the chances of unforeseen challenges. While in many OB offices this testing is reserved only for high-risk pregnancies, most Intended Parents who undergo IVF and surrogacy view it as peace of mind that their child will be healthy. Unfortunately, most Intended Parents are not even aware these tests are available, nor do they have the opportunity to elect to have them done. As an OB-managed agency, Physician’s Surrogacy secures your options and provides reassurance for a successful outcome.
As physicians, we understand the importance of timeliness and the delicate details of medical protocols. We work closely with your IVF center from the beginning of the IVF process until graduation, ensuring a smooth start to the pregnancy.
Working closely with you and your Surrogate, we support you by ordering NIPT testing (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) and providing the results to the managing OB, a service no other agency offers. NIPT is a DNA test to screen for the most common chromosomal abnormalities, including Down Syndrome (trisomy 21), Edwards Syndrome (trisomy 18), and Patau Syndrome (trisomy 13).
The culmination of this exciting journey is welcoming your newborn into the world. Leading up to the delivery, you and your Surrogate Mother enjoy round-the-clock support, preparing everyone for the arrival of your bundle of joy. Once the baby is born and in your loving care, we continue to provide post-delivery support to the Surrogate for an additional 3 to 6 months.
For international parents, Arrangements can be made for on-site concierge support during the delivery of your baby and the hospital stay.
If needed, help is provided to secure passports and visas, allowing you to focus on your new family.
Available for Everyone
Surrogacy in the U.S. is available for all family models. There are no restrictions for Intended Parents who want to welcome a baby to their family through surrogacy. Other countries don't permit single parents, unmarried couples, homosexual couples, or intended parent(s) who need a double donor to become a parent through surrogacy due to legislation. Here in the U.S., anyone can become a parent through surrogacy.
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is legal and recognized in the U.S. PGD is the process in which one or two cells of an IVF embryo are removed to check for genetic abnormalities and diseases. It can also be performed to determine the baby’s gender.
Various Donor Options
There is a wide range of egg and sperm donors to select from, making it easier for intended parents to find the race, physical attributes, and other traits they are looking for. Embryo adoption is also a possibility for intended parents who need double donors.
Surrogacy Favorable Legislation
Surrogacy in the U.S. is legal and we only work in states with surrogacy friendly laws. With surrogacy being fully regulated by laws, it gives you peace of mind that only you will be the parent on the birth certificate and have the rights to the baby. Obtaining both the birth certificate and passport are an easy and quick process, which means that you can go back home within one month of the delivery.
Ethical Reasons
Although surrogacy in other countries may be substantially cheaper, it also means that your surrogate won't get the same level of care and compensation she deserves. By doing surrogacy in the U.S. you can rest assured that your surrogate is being properly cared for and receives a generous amount of compensation that is tied to the average living wages of the state she lives in. Surrogates from poor countries see surrogacy as a chance to get out of poverty or may even be pressured to turn to surrogacy. U.S. surrogates often have an altruistic motive. There are plenty of other ways to make money so if a woman in the U.S. chooses to do surrogacy it is always paired with the desire to make another family's dream come true.

An unregulated surrogacy program is just a private agreement between the Intended Parents and the Surrogate. The contract has no legal weight and can’t be enforced. There is no legal protection for the parents if the Surrogate should choose to change her mind and request custody of the baby. Any dispute of the child’s custody will be resolved in local Family Court, where laws invariably support the rights of the birth mother. The lack of any legal framework opens the possibility of “regulation at whim” of the local authorities. This has happened several times in other countries where, in the absence of a legal framework, a conservative administration proclaimed overnight (literally) that surrogacy would be treated as a form of Human Trafficking. The result was swift, unexpected and severe actions by the local police against both Intended Parents and Surrogates.
What You Need to Know About Surrogacy.
Yes, you can! If you don’t have an IVF center yet, we will also provide you with options for embryo creation. We partner with the best fertility clinics in the U.S. and can also create embryos here at one of our partner clinics
You have come to the right place! Aside from our OB-managed model, we are known for always having prescreened Surrogates ready to match! Here at Physician’s Surrogacy, we receive applications from women in 43 states nationwide. They must undergo our extensive pre-screening process, including medical, psychological, and social screening. We manage the details and will present the candidate that most closely aligns with your clinic’s criteria, your criteria, and her personal preferences, making it the perfect match. This comprehensive approach allows us to match you with the ideal Surrogate, whether she is a first-time Surrogate Mother or an experienced Surrogate.
There’s not one answer to this question of a Surrogate Mother price, as the overall cost depends on several factors involved in surrogacy. Your Intended Parents’ coordinator will outline the services required during surrogacy and our fixed-rate compensation cost structure. Immediately after your complimentary consultation, we will provide a price quotation. The quotation will follow your circumstances and preferences. At Physician’s Surrogacy, we pride ourselves on our transparency with our services and pricing. Schedule a free consultation today to receive a transparent quote that will help you understand the total cost of surrogacy.
Due to the variability in Surrogate compensation and other state-specific factors, surrogacy in the US can cost anywhere between $120,000 to $160,000.
The best way to find a Surrogate Mother is to go through a reputable surrogacy agency, such as Physician’s Surrogacy. It is crucial you have surrogacy professionals carry out the process so your journey remains safe and seamless.
Some ask a family member, and others pursue independent journeys, but both scenarios lack safeguards for yourself and your Surrogate. Moreover, an agency ensures you have legal support from the surrogacy contract to parentage, which you may be missing otherwise.
A Gestational Surrogate or a Gestational Carrier is a woman who becomes pregnant using an embryo created by the process of in vitro fertilization (IVF). The Surrogate may achieve pregnancy using the mother’s eggs and the father’s sperm. Gestational surrogacy also offers the option to use donor eggs or donor sperm. There will be no genetic relationship to the Surrogate.
In surrogacy, the Surrogate Mother carries and delivers a baby for another woman, couple, or individual person (the Intended Parent). In gestational surrogacy, the gestational carrier does not have a biological relation to the child, due to the Surrogate Mother’s eggs not being used in the process. Instead, the embryo is created by using the intended father’s sperm or donor sperm and the intended mother’s eggs or donor eggs.
The surrogacy timeline can be broken down into six stages: Consultation, Matching, Screening, Legal, Conception, and Pregnancy/Delivery.
*Consultation: The entire process begins with a complimentary consultation with our experienced team. In this meeting, you’ll have an opportunity to share your story with us and why you’ve chosen surrogacy to grow your family, we will explain our process and program offerings, and answer any questions you have.
*Matching: Our average matching timeline is one week. We attribute this successful and dynamic matching time lime to our comprehensive 3-4-month medical pre-screening of our Surrogates done through OB supervision. Before you are presented with a potential Surrogate candidate, she has already gone through a thorough background check, all of her medical history has been screened by our physician team, and lastly, she has undergone proper and necessary lab work which then qualifies her to become an eligible candidate through our agency.
*Screening: Once we have a confirmed two-way match (Intended Parents & Surrogate) the Surrogate will then go through the final stages of medical screening and psychological screening through the IVF clinic chosen by the Intended Parents. Once the Surrogate has been cleared, we then move into the legal phase.
*Legal: Since all our pricing across the board is a flat rate, the surrogate’s compensation as well as legal insurance and the agency fee, have already been predetermined. This makes the contract portion of this process very streamlined. You will have unlimited access to your attorney and your Surrogate’s attorney during the contractual phase as well as the entire journey.
Our flat rate cost structure includes:
The Surrogate mothers’ compensation cost.
Legal representation for both sides.
Medical expenses.
Insurance.
The agency fee.
Almost all of these surrogacy-related procedures come with predetermined costs.
*Conception: Your Surrogate can begin her IVF treatment once medical clearance and legal clearance are completed.
*Pregnancy/Delivery: Throughout the pregnancy phase of the journey, you will have weekly detailed updates from your case manager outlining any, and all new information regarding your Surrogate and child.
If you do not live in the United States, you will need to travel to the U.S. at least once. This trip is for the delivery of your child. Another time would be to create your embryos at a U.S. clinic. If you prefer creating the embryos without having to travel, you can choose to either have your embryo transported or send your eggs/sperm to the U.S. clinic. Should you choose to come to the U.S. for the embryo creation the trip will include an introductory meeting with the Surrogate. On the same visit, we conduct your medical screening and then the creation of the embryos at the IVF clinic.
It depends on the agency you choose to work with. Most agencies have a 6-18 month waiting list to match with a surrogate. Some also require you to sign a contract and pay agency fees for them to begin the process of matching. Physician’s Surrogacy offers complimentary matching, and you can match with your Surrogate as quickly as a week. On average, the typical timeline is two weeks.
The amount of contact between the Intended Parents and the Surrogate varies case by case. Both parties shall determine & agree upon the contract during the matching process. Some cultures are a little more closed off than others; however, the relationship and communication develop as the journey progresses.
You, as the Intended Parent will be the one who will have full parental rights to the baby. Also, it is your name that will appear on the birth certificate.
There are several factors that influence the overall success rates of Surrogacy pregnancy. These factors can include the health and viability of the embryos used and the health of your Surrogate. As an Ob-Managed surrogacy agency we ensure that our Surrogates are medically prescreened before even being presented to you. The IVF clinic you work with also plays a vital role. Your fertility clinic can help you determine your best chances of achieving a successful pregnancy. Not only that but also the clinic will perform it under your specific circumstances. Besides, most surrogacy professionals will perform multiple embryo transfers. It continues until achieving a healthy pregnancy. This makes the overall surrogacy success rate very high.
All funds related to your surrogacy (including medical expenses for the Surrogate) will be held in a trust account. An experienced escrow company will manage the account. This way all monies due for your Surrogate fees and reimbursement of related expenses are paid in a timely manner. Finally, the surrogacy agency will be handling all financial matters. This arrangement effectively removes the payment related component from your relationship with the Intended Parents during the process.
There are different options to finance your surrogacy journey such as fertility loans, surrogacy grants, or personal lines of credit. To read further about how to finance your Surrogate price click here.
The complimentary consultation is dedicated to enhancing your understanding, setting realistic goals and answering any and all questions you may have.

Get started with the nation’s only OB-managed surrogacy agency
A physician stepped in and did a peer-to-peer with her managing OB and they both decided on the proper protocol in order to ensure a safe journey and delivery. Our surrogate was put on bed rest and she had our full support along with her surrogate support manager, case manager and the entire Physician’s Surrogacy team! Without our agency being Ob-Managed, I don’t know what our outcome would have been! I am so happy our surrogate was healthy and safe and so was our baby boy!
My surrogate was medically cleared and completely healthy when we started our journey, but during a routine check-up, her OB noticed she had an elevated AFP level during the second trimester. Naturally, we all got really scared andimagined the worst-case scenario. Luckily, a physician from Physician’s Surrogacy was able to coordinate a meeting with a Perinatologist, GYN Oncologist and the OB to devise a plan to ensure that both the surrogate and baby were safe. I am happy to say our surrogate’s amino fluid tested normal and we have a healthy baby!
Our surrogate was originally going to visit her previous OB who had delivered her children. However, due to the distance from where she lived to the hospital, she needed to see a doctor at a closer location. Through their vast network, Physician’s Surrogacy was able to find a practicing OB closer to the hospital and ensured that they had the capacity to handle a high-risk case. They also made sure that the hospital had the proper level NICU. It was all worked out so quickly and our surrogate was able to be seen by the new OB the same week!
