Why Surrogates Are Cherished?

Becoming a Surrogate Mother can be one of the most rewarding, life-changing decisions of your life. As a Gestational Surrogate, you give the most amazing gift to a loving couple or individual who needs help to have their own children. The joy and fulfillment that come with helping another person create a family are indescribable.

However, before you begin this emotionally-rewarding journey, there are many important things you need to know. At Physician Surrogacy, we have created this guide to provide you with all the information you need to become a Surrogate in Alabama, including the basic requirements, the steps involved, compensation, and more.

What is Gestational Surrogacy ?

Gestational vs. Traditional Surrogacy

Gestational surrogacy is an arrangement where a woman agrees to carry and give birth to a child for another person or couple who cannot safely carry a pregnancy by themselves. In this kind of surrogacy, eggs and sperm from the hopeful parents or donors are combined outside the body (IVF) to produce embryos. These embryos are then grown in lab and placed in the womb of the Surrogate Mother, who carries the pregnancy until delivery. Unlike Traditional Surrogacy, Gestational Surrogate shares no genetic connection to the baby she bears for the Intended Parents.

This is the safest and most ethical path for hopeful parents and their Surrogates since it eliminates the legal complications of the traditional method.

How Does Gestational Surrogacy Work?

There are several steps involved in the process, and our experts will be happy to see you through each of these steps.

01

You will first complete our online application to know if you meet our requirements. Once your application is approved, you will proceed to our prescreening process, where we will review your past pregnancies, deliveries, and current health status.

02

After you have completed the prescreening process, we will match you with the hopeful parents based on your preferences, views, and goals.

03

You will undergo a comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation to see if you fit the bill. Once you’ve completed the screening, you will have an embryo transfer procedure to get pregnant.

04

You will then proceed to the legal part of the process. Both you and the parents will enter a legally binding contract, which will outline the rights, responsibilities, and roles of each party during the journey.

05

2-3 weeks after the transfer, a blood test will be done to confirm whether pregnancy has taken place. You will then carry and give birth to the baby.

06

Once the baby is born, you will hand the baby over to the would-be parents, and your surrogacy journey will be complete.

How We Match You With the Hopeful Parents?

The matching process is one of the most important – and exciting parts of our program. After completing our prescreening, we’ll arrange a short interview to know your surrogacy goals, expectations, and preferences regarding the kind of parents you want to help. During this conversation, you’ll have the opportunity to tell us if you have any specifications concerning the parents you wish to work with.

We also have a similar conversation with the prospective parents. When an Intended Parent shows an interest in you, we will contact you to arrange a “meet and greet” video call so that you can know those you’re trying to help. Once a two-way match is confirmed, you will then proceed to the other phases of the program. Here are some questions we may ask to help match you with the perfect Intended Parents.

01

What level of communication do you want?

02

Are you ready to carry twins or triplets? If not, what is your view on selective reduction and pregnancy termination?

03

How often do you wish to talk to the intended parents during the surrogacy journey?

04

Do you have a good support system in place?
