Intended Parents FAQs

Expand a question below to learn how Physician’s Surrogacy — the nation’s only OB-managed surrogacy agency headquartered in San Diego — supports Intended Parents from consultation to delivery.

How do language and communication work throughout the journey?

We have a multilingual team to ensure nothing gets lost in translation. For communication with parents, we match you based on your preferences, whether you want direct texts or guided updates, we ensure everyone is comfortable. Make sure you tell us your communication preferences during your intake.

What support do you offer after delivery for international parents?

We provide full concierge support, assisting with the birth certificate and the baby’s passport so you can return home quickly. Our team handles the logistics and paperwork so you can focus on bonding with your new baby. Contact us to discuss our international support package.

Will I need to travel to the U.S. during the surrogacy journey?

You typically only need to visit the U.S. once: for the delivery of your baby! If you haven’t created embryos yet, we can often coordinate the shipment of genetics to minimize extra travel. Schedule a consultation to plan your specific timeline.

How does the surrogacy process differ for international Intended Parents?

The medical and matching process is largely the same! The main difference is the logistics of travel and finalizing your baby’s citizenship, which our expert legal and coordination teams manage for you completely.

Can international Intended Parents work with Physician’s Surrogacy?

Absolutely. We specialize in helping families from around the globe. Our OB-managed model and multilingual staff make the process seamless, handling everything from remote matching to legal coordination. Book a free virtual consultation to start your journey from home.

Can I stay in touch with my surrogate after delivery?

Yes, if you both choose to! Many parents and surrogates form lasting friendships. We help establish communication preferences during the matching phase so expectations align from the start. Discuss your ideal relationship with your coordinator during your consultation

Will I receive post-birth medical reports?

Our focus shifts to the baby, but we continue to care for your surrogate. We provide her with 3–6 months of post-delivery support to ensure she recovers fully. You receive updates on her health while you focus on bonding with your newborn. Ask us about our post-birth support package.

How are parental rights established?

We facilitate a legal process (often a “Pre-Birth Order”) to establish you as the legal parents before delivery. This makes sure your names—and only your names—appear on the birth certificate. Our legal team will guide you through every step of this process.

What happens after my baby is born?

The baby is placed immediately into your arms! You assume full parental rights and care. Meanwhile, we continue to support your surrogate’s recovery for several months. For international parents, we also assist with passports and travel docs. You can plan your delivery trip with our concierge.

How are pregnancy updates shared?

You get detailed reports directly from our case managers after every appointment. This ensures you receive accurate medical info without putting pressure on the surrogate to translate “doctor-speak.” Contact us to see examples of our detailed medical reports
